SUMMARY:TEA meeting "Diner Owner Thwarts DeWine Mandates"
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our monthly meeting. We’ll have a guest speaker on a current hot topic / issue. This is a great opportunity to get up to speed on what is happening in the local and state government on relevant issues. Good chance to discuss items with fellow conservatives from Lorain County and neighboring counties. \nWant to get involved and DO SOMETHING about an issue you are concerned about?  Come see how you can get plugged in.  It’s a great group. \n8:30 a.m. Coffee and refreshments\n9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Program \nAdmission is free for first-time guests\, students and annual members. $3 for all others. \nOpen to the Public. \n************************ \nFebruary 13 details: \nWe’ll be treated by a visit and talk from Joe Beasley\, the owner of a diner in Stark County\, who has experienced the wrath of those carrying out DeWine’s tyrannical policies.  He’ll tell his story about tangling with the county and state health authorities.  This is one for the ages. \n \n\n\n\nGet your 2021 Membership:  $25 Individual; $40 Family\nThis includes free admission to monthly meetings January through November\, free coffee and refreshments\, voting privileges (TEA officers\, other)\, participation in straw polls and TEA leadership.Annual meeting:  We will have the annual organizational meeting next Saturday immediately following the public meeting.  This is for all the dues-paid members.  There will be important reports about the TEA organization and an election of officers.\n\n\n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nBeginning of the Lake Varsity Diner Story\nLake Varsity Diner sits just south of Akron and just north of Canton on Route 91 better known as ‘Cleveland Ave.’  Joe and Colleen Beasley\, the owner operators of this 75-seat Diner\, have been in business since October of 2005. They serve lunch and dinner and operate between the hours of 11:00 am and 8:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday. \n‘Sports Bar for kids’\, How about those spec-tators?\nThe Diner has a 50’s look inside with lots of chrome\, black and white tile and a juke box full of music you can play for free. They incorporated the local school colors of blue and white with lots of sports memorabilia on their table tops as well. Lake Township is comprised of two communities\, Hartville and Uniontown and the school system is called Lake as well. The Township for the most part is dry because of a large Mennonite population\, and they sit in a dry precinct. Since they don’t serve alcohol\, they promote their restaurant as a sports bar for kids. The names of their menu items hitchhike off of the sports theme\, so they have items like a personal foul\, pre-game warm-up\, quarterback and halfback burgers and fresh cut chips they call spec-tators. \nGreat relationship with community\nOver these past 15 years the Beasleys have enjoyed a great relationship with their community\, customers\, and the Stark County Health Department. That all changed on October 14th of 2020. More on that in a minute. On March 15th when Governor DeWine ordered restaurants closed for inside dining the Beasleys created an aggressive carry-out campaign to keep their business open. They kept all of their employees\, and from March through May they were operating at about 85% for the same time a year earlier. Then in June\, Governor DeWine gave the green light for restaurants to reopen for inside dinning. They thought the requirements and restrictions would cost more than the benefit of being able to open\, so they continued with carry-out only and watched what kind of mistakes restaurants that decided to reopen made. \nDiner reopens\, Health Department shows up\nLake Varsity Diner reopened on July 14th and truthfully didn’t change how they operated prior to Covid-19 with the exception of more aggressive cleaning procedures. While they still enjoy that great relationship with their community and customers\, that is no longer true of the Stark County Health Department. On Oct 14\, 2020 a compliance officer from the health Dept. entered their Diner to write a citation for non-compliance with Governor DeWine’s mask mandate. \nLike Paul Harvey’s ‘page 2’\, Joe will be sharing the whole story and more on Saturday\, February 13th over a cup of TEA (and coffee) when you attend the TEA meeting at 5300 Baumhart Rd.\, Lorain.  Consider it a cheap date for Valentine’s Day.  Hope to see you there. \nCome hear the rest of the story.\nBelow is the message displayed on the door at Lake Varsity Diner. \n \nAt this meeting we will also share how YOU can help support small business heroes like Joe Beasley.  These folks are critical to our future in Ohio and the country.

DESCRIPTION:Ohio’s Future Foundation Chairman Jim Renacci to Speak at the Totally Engaged Americans of Lorain County Meeting \nThe meeting will be held on September 14\, 2019\, in Amherst.\n \nTotally Engaged Americans of Lorain County announced today that Ohio’s Future Foundation Chairman Jim Renacci will speak at the organization’s meeting on September 14.
